A scarce original sketch by Charles Ambrose of leading 1920-30's amateur golfer Noel Layton at the top of his backswing. The reverse of the sketch has hand written "Noel Layton brilliant Walton Heath arrayed a l'american Layton's costume shows what effect Americanism is exerting on golfers". Layton played at the Berkshire Golf Club and Walton Heath, played in the 1911 Open Championship 78-82-87-86--333 represented England and come second in the Amateur Championships of 1925. Ambrose sketched numerous images including Abercromby. The sketch is in very good condition and has a faint scratch in the card running vertically down the card. Sketch measures 21cm by 28cm.
